Summary/Abstract: This research could fill the gap in the field of studies concerning the mirativity in the Slovak language. The aim of our paper is to analyse Slovak prefixal verb of auditive perception počuť in its past tense perfective forms whithin the texts of the Slovak National Corpus. The analysis should be performed by identifying the mirative meanings of the mentioned verb. The paper deals with the mirative markers which we classify based on Aikhenvald range of mirative meanings. Another important aspect that we identified, is whether we can speak about mirativity in Slovak in terms of a grammaticalized linguistic category. The paper also pays attention to the correlation between mirative markers and the grammatical persons used by the speaker. We found out that in our research sample, the 3rd person of singular was predominant.
