Summary/Abstract: This article discusses on one of the oldest Tetraevangelions [Four Gospels Books], with exact creation date, written in medieval times on the territory of current Romania. The manuscript was written in Church Slavonic of Middle Bulgarian redaction. It was signed by its author, Priest Simeon (Сѷмеѡна ), on July 14, 1450, during the time of Iancu de Hunedoara, Voivode of Transylvania, on the river Nerganiu, (Нерганю ), in the village called The Big Village at Halmash (елико село ха (л )маш). Two remarkable notes are on the back of the folio 214: the first, is the colophon written by the author, Priest Simeon, and describes the time and location when he finished writing this manuscript and the second, was written later by a monk called Mitrofan (Митрофа (н )) and describes how he donated this manuscript to his mentor from his monastery to be used by other priests. This article is based on research done during the last three years and its focus is threefold: a) to provide a short chronological summary of some significant publications that described this manuscript, b) to provide information about the circumstances and the place where the manuscript was first found in modern times and by whom, and c) to provide evidence and arguments for its actual origin and to refute previous assumptions, widely accepted, regarding the geographical origin where this manuscript was written.
