Summary/Abstract: The article asks about the teaching of Pope Francis on suffering and the attitudes that a disciple of Christ should adopt towards it. The main sources that have been examined are Francis' encyclicals, exhortations and apostolic letters. Papal documents do not so much address the topic of the meaning of suffering, but rather show its various dimensions and ways of dealing with its specific manifestations.
