Summary/Abstract: One of the most important tasks in the investigation of criminal offences is the collection and examination of evidence in criminal prosecutions. In this context, the need to make the work of law enforcement agencies more efficient and to improve the tactical and methodological bases of criminal prosecution is particularly topical. Improving the tactics of criminal prosecution can have a positive impact on the conduct of investigations and, in particular, on the gathering of sufficient evidence in criminal cases. The evidentiary procedure known as "crime scene investigation", although known and regulated by the Criminal Procedure Code, has not yet been clearly, fully and adequately regulated. At the same time, the evidentiary procedure in question is widely used in the practice of law enforcement agencies and has been successfully applied, in particular, in the investigation of serious and particularly serious crimes. For this reason, the question of the nature and ways of verifying statements made at the scene of a crime is becoming increasingly topical. In addition, the vast majority of specialised works on the verification of statements made at the scene of a crime have not taken into account the new provisions of criminal procedural law and the achievements of other sciences actively used in the practice of criminal investigation.
