Summary/Abstract: The subject of the study is the analysis of the EU Fit for 55 package in the context of the assumptions of the European Green Deal. The adoption by the European Union of a plan to significantly reduce CO2 emissions is a task that should be assessed positively. The aim of the study, however, is to confront this task with human rights and the armed conflict caused by Russia. The assumption that the implementation of new policies or strategies requires a deep rethinking of the social, economic and, above all, political context was adopted as a research hypothesis. The analysis of the research problem presented in this way required a brief outline of the history of environmental policy and the assumptions of the current European Union policy in this area. The result of the study is an attempt to outline the relationship between the EU environ-mental protection policy and human rights and the political situation in Ukraine.
