Summary/Abstract: The issues of green finance and climate change have been at the forefront of countries, national and multinational companies for a long time now and especially since 2015, when the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. To date, investments have largely focused on mitigation in areas such as renewable energy. The next step will include a variety of innovations to move to a world with a smaller carbon footprint. But we have to ask ourselves if we as human beings, the society as a whole and the countries we live in are heading for a success in that transition that is so vital. The aim of this article is to give partial answers to this question.Using a dataset for 50 countries from Europe we are trying to examine what are the prospects for the success of sustainable policies that are being undertaken.
