Summary/Abstract: The concept of protecting ecosystems to mitigate natural disasters, in protected areas, theirs use as conservation tools and their threats is not a new one, protecting ecosystems to mitigate natural disasters has been considered since ancient times. Protecting against natural disasters has concerned humanity since ancient times, humanity becoming aware of the dangers that can affect the community as a result of extreme climate events and the results caused by these events. If we want conservation methods to be effective and protected area to be a comerstone to the strategy, it will continually require both understanding and influencing human values, prioritising and making appropriate decisions about their expansion. Integrated landscape management is an approach to address major global issues such as poverty, food insecurity, climate change and biodiversity loss.
