Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of scientific writing is to present objective information based on data and research. However, in English academia, it is common to mitigate one’s claims and allow for other points of view by hedging. In this paper, hedges are explored in the post-method sections of 44 research articles (RAs) in the field of tourism and hospitality, written in English by English and Serbian scholars. A number of established similarities and differences regarding the frequency and use of hedges by native and non-native speakers of English are further discussed and conclusions are drawn regarding cross-cultural aspects of scientific writing.
