Summary/Abstract: In the villages of the Beiușului Depression, the preliminary rites in case of death are well defined. The patient and those in his entourage openly recognize the proximity of death, that is why they rigorously submit to magical-religious practices that are meant to ease the passage from this world to the Hereafter. Among these practices we list: fasting, prayer and masl.
