CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING SOME OPPORTUNITIES FOR ROMANIA IN THE CONTEXT OF THE UKRAINIAN CRISIS

Summary/Abstract: Purpose: the study presents some opportunities, both politically and in terms of security, offered to Romania by the conflict in Ukraine, which arose with the initiation by the Russian Federation, on February 24, 2022, of the "Special military operation" in Ukraine. Research hypothesis: h1.) the active involvement of Romanian decision-makers in optimally managing the security crisis, triggered by the invasion of Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation, can enhance Romania's role and importance in the regional and global political and security architecture; h2.) the support provided to Ukraine by Romania and the solidarity expressed towards the Ukrainian citizens, during the military conflict and the subsequent reconstruction of the neighboring country, can lead to a reevaluation of the relations between the two countries. Proposed objective: ob1.) highlighting the fact that Romania stands as a beacon of stability and a security exporter in the Black Sea region, and in the context of the evolution of the conflict in Ukraine, can play a significant role in the geopolitical and geo-security architecture. Ob 2.) demonstrating the idea that, beyond the historical disagreements between Romania and Ukraine, the solidarity shown by Romania towards the Ukrainian people can be a pivotal element for rethinking the relations between the two countries.
