Summary/Abstract: Review: Krzysztof Abriszewski, Poznanie, zbiorowość, polityka. Analiza Teorii Aktora-Sieci Bruno Latoura [Cognition, Collectiveness, Politics: An Analysis of Bruno Latour’s Actor-Network Theory], Kraków, 2008. The book by K. Abriszewski is discussed in the context of the reception of the Actor-Network-Theory (ANT) in Poland. Abriszewski’s work is a comprehensive, reliable, and in-depth study. Primarily, however, it is a reader-friendly monograph – a rather rare instance and an important advantage of the book, particularly if one considers that it presents a novel and hermetic depiction of the topic. Abriszewski deliberately applies a ‘soft’ narrative strategy: step by step, he introduces the reader, in the opening sections of his book, into the intellectual structure of ANT; he supports his narrative thread with extensive examples, he avoids Latour’s technicalities wherever possible. The following parts are more difficult, and to follow the course of the author’s reasoning requires knowledge of the findings established and categories introduced earlier on. For this reason I should recommend that you read the book in its entirety, rather than focus on selected fragments.
