Summary/Abstract: Focused on the priory analysis of the Jew survivors testimonies under the different forms in which they have been registered (memories, journals, press articles, interviews, reportage), the study proposes an analysis of the way in which the Bucharest pogrom memory is constructed within the Romanian Jewish community, following, on one hand, the exploration of the impact which this dramatic event has had on individual level on the Jew witnesses and survivors and, on the other hand, the identification of the means through which those social practices which contribute to its registration in the collective memory (ceremonies, celebrations, expositions) are articulated. Unfolding these two analysis directions, the study covers an interval of time ranged between the period of WWII and the post-1989 period when the premises of Romania’s recent past reevaluation and assumption are created.
