Summary/Abstract: The present study aims at analyzing how Native American identity and self are portrayed in Louise Erdrich’s novel entitled ”The Antelope Wife”, namely, what it means to be a Native American. The paper highlights the way in which the characters see themselves in this novel and how they form connections, but also how national identity is influenced by outsiders. It looks at what it means to be an outsider, how you can be not only accepted, but also rejected in the Native American culture. Thus, the Native American people have strong beliefs and certain ways of going though life having to deal with those who threaten their culture.
