Summary/Abstract: The society we live in, often marked by selfishness, indifference and greed, does not share the Christian doctrine of love, charity and caring for one’s neighbor, turning consumerism into a new lifestyle. We often notice that, in our times, we need as many goods as possible, we need people to consume them, who eat, drink, travel and spend without bending over the needs of those who suffer from diseases, shortages and of social inequalities. God gives us His gifts in abundance, so that we have everything and not infrequently He even gives us more. Let us give the basket of crumbs left over from our daily meal to the needy, the sick, the lonely and the helpless, this being the proof of care and brotherly love towards them.
