Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to show the significance of the International Scientific Conference on Multivariate Statistical Analysis (MSA), focusing mostly on its contribution to the development of statistics and its role in integrating the domestic and international statistical community. The conference, organised since 1981 by the Institute of Econometrics and Statistics of the University of Lodz, presents the most recent achievements in the field of multivariate statistical analysis. It brings together scientists from many institutions, thus creating a platform for exchanging views on the recommended directions of the development of statistical methods as well as the popularisation of knowledge connected to official statistics, data analysis and the applications of statistical methods. The year 2022 marked the 40th, jubilee edition of the conference, which was the inspiration for the overview of this event’s significant contribution to the field of statistics.
