The monastery was the catalyst that inspired the rulers, the ministers of the Holy Altar, the great dignitaries and many wealthy men of great means to offer of their wealth for the comfort of all the helpless who turned their steps to St. Spyridonʹs Hospital or to the other hospitals and philanthropic establishments it developed over time.
