Summary/Abstract: The sins of the tongue are present in human life. They are most visible ingossip and slander, although they can also be seen in telling half-truths, lies,slander or excessive speech. The issue is very broad and occurs in every timeand place, where people live and have relationships with each other. The HolyFather Francis exposes, above all, gossip and slander. Delving into his homiliesdelivered at the House of Saint Martha, you can see how he shows these sins inthe context of considering God's Word during the celebration of the daily Eu-charist. The purpose of this article is to show how great a spiritual threat sins ofthe tongue pose. Pope Francis makes strong comparisons just to show howmuch the sins of language negatively impact interpersonal communication. Thearticle shows how the Pope's teaching corresponds to the Catechism of theCatholic Church.
