Summary/Abstract: The task of questioning the ethical aspects of life and death has never been easy. The inherent and equal dignity with which human beings are born is proclaimed in national legislations and charters with a universal vocation, but it is not easy to define, and the different and dynamic social, cultural and political contexts make the task of clarifying the different situations that arise and drawing some limits in various situations in reality. Applied ethics faces new and challenging cases, such as the one I have chosen to illustrate the theme of the conflict between the right to dignity and the right to justice in this paper. The problem of assisted suicide, as well as the right to die, raises a series of ethical and philosophical aspects, as well as legal issues that need to be addressed. Although the debate on such issues began in the 1970s, although some states have expressed their position on such issues, reflecting it in national legislation or affirming it at the forums of international institutions (UN, Council Europe, etc.) the issue is far from being unanimously and satisfactorily resolved, and the purpose of this approach is not to find a unitary solution, but to new questions about the meaning and application of the concept of human dignity.
