Summary/Abstract: In the world of arts, communication involves the transmission of an artistic message loaded with meanings. The most common form of communication is the verbal one, which is always accompanied by non-verbal aspects (mimicry and body language), which reinforce or invalidate the initial verbal message, as they are more credible. Paralanguage (rhythm, volume, tone, intonation of the voice, etc.) is also essential, and it must be adapted to the context in which the message is communicated. In theatre, the artistic message is contained in the dramatic text, in music it is kept in the graphic signs and symbols of the score. In the process of communicating the artistic message, music, through its elements of language (melody, rhythm, tempo, musical dynamics, harmony, polyphony) has an important role, because it can create real visual pictures, sometimes with symbolic value. Along with music, the artistic message is transmitted through a series of means of expression: the spoken or sung word, accompanied by nonverbal messages, the means of bodily expression, the scenery and costumes, which help to understand the text and its scenic representation, sound effects and lights, indispensable in any form of performance.
