Summary/Abstract: In 1981, overcoming the ideological constraints imposed by the communist regime, the first edition of the Lucian Blaga Poetry Festival was organised in Sebeș. The event, turned international in the meantime, has reached present day without interruption. Emerging in a multi-ethnic area, in an old burg founded by the Saxons in Transylvania, in a community with a taste for culture and for quality events, from which a number of personalities of Romanian culture stood out, the festival promoted performing arts, in the early years relying in particular on amateur competitions and poetry recitation, along with scientific conferences and publishing projects promoting the vast creation of Lucian Blaga - poet, philosopher, playwright, translator.
