Summary/Abstract: In order to offer an overall image of the notion of linguistic competence, as a specific concept of learning Romanian language by the Gagauz students, it is necessary to present a set of criteria with regard to this concept. Linguistic competence is represented by the phonetic, lexical and grammatical knowledge and acquisition of Romanian language. The pre-learning strategies of Romanian for Gagauz students focuses on the specific interpretative-communicative actions. Social diversity of the contexts in which the communication of the Gagauz student can be valorized, can help him/ her understand the capacity to correctly interpret the “textualization” of the information.
