Summary/Abstract: The linguistic analysis developed in this article highlights the underlying mechanisms of the asymmetrical relationship between patients and healthcare professionals. It compares the discourse of patients afflicted with cancer, gathered in surveys and from health-related web forums, with the discourse of medical institutions. This study is based on distributional lexical semantics and enunciative strategies.
