Summary/Abstract: Francis Brentano said that each philosophical epoch consists of four phases: the first one is a period of questions, to which answers are formulated, the second one is a practical period, which is the use of these answers. According to Brentano, this period ends with skepticism. It would follow that overemphasizing practice leads to skepticism defined as questioning the possibility of giving any answers, because the criterion, in this case the criterion of truth, is missing. Therefore, it is always the case that skepticism destroys philosophy. The result of this destruction of philosophy is the last stage that Brentano mentions, or what he calls philosophical mysticism. If we can apply this attractive Brentano’s division to the nowadays philosophy, it seems that we are between the penultimate and the last stage, that is, between skepticism and philosophical mysticism. It would follow that we are witnessing the end of a certain philosophical era. Postmodernism was considered a form of skepticism, while trans humanism was defined as philosophical mysticism. Therefore, the trend of practicing philosophy in the classical sense, which also includes Thomism, turns out to be very important (but with various reservations, several other philosophical orientations, for example phenomenology, could be included in this trend).
