Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to characterization the ideological and philosophical foundations of contemporary ecological movements. It reminds of the semantic confusion we deal with today. There is a different between ecology as a natural science and "ecology" as a kind of ideology. The former explores the relationship between living organisms and the natural environment of their lives. The second one formulates ideological and political programs and is a project of social changes. The text focuses primarily on ecologicalism, that is, on ecological ideologies. The article analyzes the language used by activists of these organizations and their philosophical roots. It shows the intellectual revolution that took place in the environment of ecologists. It was a transition from the so-called "shallow ecology" to the "deep ecology".
