Summary/Abstract: The article describes an extraordinary figure of Christian antiquity, which is undoubtedly Clemens of Alexandria from the second century – philosopher, Christian theologian, holy father of the Church. He was an educated Greek who converted to Christianity. The article refers to his itinerary, connected with the desire to deepen his faith, in which Alexandria was a place of particular maturity of his doctrine, as well as sharing it with the intellectuals of his time. Within the framework of the Alexandria catechism school, which he led by exploring Scripture, he developed a synthesis of the Christian faith with Greek philosophy. In his best known work Stromata referred to the formation of a conscious Christian gnostic, exploring the moral virtues and mysteries of Christ – the divine Logos. Thanks to his synthesis, he gave a solid foundation for the use of terms originating from classical Greek philosophy to conceptualize the Christian faith. He also contributed to the ingrafting in Europe of important elements of the Greek model of teaching, which found its realization in the form of the trivium and quadrivium system, and thus became a permanent part of the foundations of European culture.
