Summary/Abstract: This paper explores the history of commercial law from ancient times to the Middle Ages, focusing on the impact of various civilizations, including the Mesopotamia, Phoenicia, Greeks, Romans, and Arabs, on its development. The article also examines how commercial practices were transferred from one nation to another, which led to the creation of lex mercatoria, the first phase in the development of modern (international) commercial law.
