Summary/Abstract: The article discusses some of the challenges faced by teachers teaching in small settlements. These challenges often determine their decisions to work there and they are the reason for the turnover of pedagogical staff. Teaching in schools in settlements is different due to the specifics of the context. In general, they are smaller in terms of the number of enrolled students, which affects the organization of the teaching staff. Compared to urban schools they are geographically remote and their functioning is determined by the particular socio-economic conditions of their external environment. The features of these educational institutions create difficulties for which pedagogues may not be sufficiently prepared through their qualification as teachers and therefore it affects their motivation to work in them.
