Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the article is to demonstrate the impact of the newly adopted International Financial Reporting Standard 17 "Insurance Contracts" on the accounting policy of an insurance company. The adopted solutions will affect the disclosure and valuation of financial categories held by the insurance entity. IFRS 17 introduced a clear division between the results of insurance activity and investment activity. The recognition of revenue based on premiums written in specific periods has been abandoned. The effects of the newly adopted regulations are illustrated through the example of the PZU Group. The selection of this group is based on the fact that it prepares its consolidated financial statements in accordance with International Accounting Standards and publishes them on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The example of the PZU Group showcases the changes in accounting policy introduced based on IFRS 17. In the future, similar research is planned to be conducted in the field of international insurance groups.
