Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article (part 1) is to analyze the metaverse from the perspective of key challenges for regulation. The analysis continues with the issue of opportunities and threats for business. There are different opinions about the potential implications of the metaverse for people and business. Some researchers believe that this is just an incremental development of augmented (mixed) reality, a trend of social networking, gaming and entertainment development, with- out the features of a disruptive innovation. Others point to qualitative changes in the Internet environment, already affecting the penetration of the metaverse by corporations and new business models. Research methods are – a review of literature, law and jurisprudence, including the economic analysis of law.
