Economic Situation of Women in Kalisz County During the Interwar Period. Selected Activity

Summary/Abstract: Giving the active and passive voting rights to women was one of interwar Poland’s most important achievements. Despite this, women of the Kalisz County (much like in the rest of the country) faced many problems which influenced their economic and social situation. This article is an attempt to give an insight into their standard of living, influenced by factors such as: their gainful employment, their household activities, and their living situation, often stemming from their social roles. The purpose of this work is to present their economic and social condition, based on selected examples. The essay hereinafter does not present said issue nor the situation of rural women living on the territory of Kalisz Countyin the Interwar Polandin its full, however it does present the most important aspects, therefore giving an idea of the overall state of the issue.
