ESCALATION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND LEGISLATIVE SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE THE NATIONAL LEGAL FRAMEWORK

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to outline domestic violence as a serious problem facing Bulgarian legislation. The statistical data presented in reports and summaries of the law enforcement bodies shows the need to take effective measures, including changes in the legal framework, to prevent cases of domestic violence and to provide more effective protection to victims. Bulgarian legislation should regulate specific measures in prevention, databases, and coordination between state institutions and civil society organizations active in this field, monitoring, and measures in the field of international cooperation.This article aims to outline domestic violence as a serious problem facing Bulgarian legislation.
