Summary/Abstract: Education and upbringing are in a state of multiple correlative relationships. Attitudes and positive attitudes towards education are nurtured from early childhood within the family and close family circle. The presentation focuses on two parallel hypotheses, in which the dependencies between the level of education of the parents and the educational stages reached by the children are investigated. The widely circulated hypothesis that children from disadvantaged families with low educational status and material difficulties are much less likely to reach high educational stages and vice versa. On the other side, the hypothesis is presented that parents' education is important, but not decisive in relation to their children's attitudes and motivation for learning.
