Disappearing City

Summary/Abstract: Taking Patrick Keiller’s film London (1994) as a point of reference, the author of the text wanders through the con- temporary British capital, recording the changes it has undergone over the last few decades. Registering the progressive transformation, he observes that the “disappearance” of well-known places from the past signifies a kind of “disappearance” of the city preserved in his memory. Yet, at the same time it also signifies the formation of a new urban space.
