Summary/Abstract: Fan fiction is the work written by fans who produce their own literature (and not only) based on popular original works. Their activity is concentrated primarily online, which allows them to connect and facilitate the exchange of opinions. The works appearing on internet forums give rise to discussions, inspire the creation of new works set in the original universes as well as the translations that accompany them. Like all fan art, the translations are done by non-professionals, often very young people. The translation of works often belonging to the fantasy genre poses specific difficulties. It requires not only perfect knowledge of the present-ed world, one described in the original version of a given work, but also considerable creativity. As in the case of any translation, the foundation seems to be both mastering the original language and understanding the possible linguistic play the creators invite the recipient to enter. This article presents the advantages of fan involvement in the translation of fanfiction works and the dangers of poor translation.
