Summary/Abstract: The study of the criminal phenomenon cannot be complete if it does not take into account the emergence of victims in addition to offenders, so it is necessary to extend this study to this second "partner of the criminal couple", namely the victim. It is from the interaction between offender and victim that the case of interest to the criminal investigation is born. A victim typology has been developed in the doctrine which distinguishes the victim's responsibility from that of the offender in criminal acts and ranges from completely innocent to completely guilty. Research by victimologists has developed concepts such as victim precipitation, victim facilitation and victim provocation, which play a role in the commission of the crime. The trend in victimology also relates to an increasingly realistic and defensible view of two human beings caught in a web of complicated social relationships and human emotions. This realism means that revenge, which we know to be harmful and destructive, will give way to a more balanced view of victimisation and a community response in which empathy, compassion, tolerance and forgiveness replace the current calls for revenge.
