NATIONAL ARCHIVAL INSTITUTIONS AND THE NEED OF CONTINUOUS TRAINING FOR THE QUALITY INCREASE OF THE ARCHIVE EMPLOYEE

Summary/Abstract: The Archive and the Albanian Archivistics, these last three decades has undergone significant and important transformations. The transformations of the Albanian State Archive are a product of the radical changes of the Albanian society itself after the years of 1990. In Albania, the Archives as institutions and the science of archiving, have known quantitative and qualitative jumps, in the institutional plan, in the direction of territorial extension, and as well as in the changes of the report between the citizen and the researcher. Due to the “Historical mission” the Albanian Archives and the archivists possess, which is valued as a very important mission that always improves the reports between the documents as a National Memories and society need. Therefore, from time to time has emerged the need of training, qualification of the archivist and the national archive staff. In support to the mission of the archivist and the archives”as care for the historical inheritance and the transmission of it to the generations”, General Directorate of Archives as the central institution that leads all the processes of the Albanian archive, has considered as its work priority the theoretical education, improvement of practical abilities of archivists of all levels, to meet archival challenges. General Directorate of Archives has transformed into a “historical line” the work for the qualification of the archival staff, with experience and the new recruits, by creating training curricula that include the main areas of the archival activity,secretary-archives, but also special topics that occupy a central place in the formation of archival staff.The training serves as stages in the development of knowledge towards the continuous changes of technology and work processes, while being up to date on new trends in technological development. General Directorate of Archives has not treated the work and training processes of archival staff or archivists as an purpose in itself or as a jewel, but as a function of daily long-term work, work which has borne fruit in many aspects such as the amount of documentation processed and their submission to the state archives, in the quality of document processing, etc.
