Summary/Abstract: There are a significant number of texts, published by Bulgarian experts from the end of the XIXth century to the mid-twentieth century, which contain opinions on libraries, bibliography, reading. They matter not only as part of the country's cultural heritage, but also contain some current ideas for the contemporary period. The text focuses on the funding concepts, the problems of the library statistics, the use of foreign library experience.
