Continuity and Discontinuity Elements in North-Western Romania

Summary/Abstract: The present paper underlines the linguistic continuity and discontinuity in the north-west of Romania, beginning with the idea of unity in diversity and also of diversity in unity of the Dacoromanian territory. The researched area includes the north-west of the Dacoromanian territory, the one comprised by the Maramureș and Crișean subdialects and which is defined by a strong conservative character, but which often develops innovative peculiarities, some of which are unique in the Dacoromanian language.
