Summary/Abstract: The book presents new documents that shed light on the multi-layered processes that took place among Bulgarian society in the XIX century, as well as to affirm some theses, but also to rethink old and already established ones. The authors are specialists in different but at the same time complementary fields of science – historians (Renaissance and Ottoman), archivists and librarians, which does not dilute the concept of the publication, but on the contrary makes it more diverse and interesting. Along with classical Revival themes such as the struggle for church independence and public affairs, the reform initiatives of the Ottoman government during the Tanzimat and various moments of economic cooperation and mutual influence of the different religions representatives in Bulgarian territories are also present.
