Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the most important popular portals on history in the Polish language. The analysis assumes an interdisciplinary approach to the issue in hand, regarding both the content of the portals under analysis and the degree to which they have user friendly design. The article will focus on the following websites: “Ciekawostki Historyczne”, „Twoja Historia”, „Dzieje.pl”, „Histmag.org”, „Historia.org.pl”, and „Historykon.pl”. They have been selected according to their popularity measured by the number of visits per month. The first part of the article will explore the general idea behind a given portal, its content, the themes it discusses, as well as the degree of competence of its published texts. The other part of the article will mainly concentrate on the question of the design of the interface of each portal, which determines their functionality for the user. The analysis will then lead up to more general conclusions on the presence of historical narratives and themes in the internet as well as on the issue of technological sophistication of historical websites.
