Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is to present the activities of the 1st Assault Battalion during the operation „Danube” in 1968. Thanks to the archival queries in the Archive of the Institute of National Remembrance in Warsaw and in the Military Archive in Oleśnica, it was possible to prepare the most complete description of the activity of Polish special units in Czechoslovakia so far. The conducted research showed that the special forces were not used in accordance with their intended purpose, which had a negative impact on the effectiveness and morale of soldiers.
