Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we aim to study the factors that influence the development of fintech in the Romanian market of banking products and services. Based on a survey with over 170 respondents and advanced econometric analyses, we collected both quantitative and qualitative information to identify the profile of customers who apply for online financial products and services as well as the risks associated with these operations. The questionnaire consisted of two parts: Part I, in which we collected general information about the respondents (age group, gender, environment, etc.) as well as their perspective on fintech, and Part II, which was conducted by answering five questions that measured the degree of financial literacy. The collected data was processed and analyzed through two types of regressions: LOGIT regression, which we used for binary variables (Have you accessed online credit in the past two years?) and Poisson type regression, for modeling variables with multiple responses. The research results show that there is a statistically significant link between accessing online credit in the past two years and factors such as age, occupation, and degree of bank card usage. Thus, the probability of accessing online credit increases with age, but also with the degree of bank card usage.
