Summary/Abstract: The authors of the paper introduce an original psychological instrument, constructed and standardized for the Bulgarian population: “Psychological Harassment at Work Questionnaire”. The psychometric characteristics of the Questionnaire were derived from 475 subjects, working in over 12 occupational fields, aged between 19 and 66 years, of whom 204 male and 267 female. The Questionnaire was constructed to differentiate indicators in the application of psychological harassment in the workplace, and its factor solution distinguished four components: Psychological pressure and devaluation (26 items), Control and restriction of mental space (17 items), Entrapment (5 items) and Violence (5 items). 3 direct-question harassment items and 2 filters are also included, for a total of 58 items. Through the Depression Scale Inventory (Zung, DSI), Anxiety Status Inventory (Zung, ASI), Global Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg), and the Ineffective Team Functioning Scale (Mitkova & Peev) the convergent validity of the authors‘ questionnaire was investigated. The psychometric characteristics, application procedure and guidelines for interpretation are presented as well as the “Psychological Harassment at Work Questionnaire” itself. The results of the analyses testify to the validity and reliability of the newly constructed Questionnaire.
