Summary/Abstract: The psychometric characteristics of the Bulgarian adaptation of the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) were assessed in a sample of 291 students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. A confirmatory factor analysis revealed an acceptable fit with the theoretically defined seven- factor structure. Correlation analyses showed a weak to a moderate positive correlation between most of the adjacent subscales and a negative correlation between the opposite subscales, supporting the continuum of self-determination. The internal consistency of each of the AMS subscales is very good.
