Summary/Abstract: One of the greatest risks to our cultural heritage is ignorance. People who do not recognize a valuable cultural item, may destroy it, or let others do it. Teaching about cultural heritage should happen not only in schools, but also in churches, through public meetings, in every university, in summer school camps, etc. Those who destroy icons and cultural objects for being old, and replace them with new, modern ones, especially in rural areas, are unaware of the value of the objects they have. Television programs should include documentaries on cultural heritage, museums should print fliers with valuable traditional pieces, in a constant effort of diminishing the destruction of cultural heritage objects. Police Departments may contribute alongside archaeologists and teachers to inform students through periodical visits to schools, and lectures about illegal traffic of cultural heritage items. Workshops, visits to archaeological sites and archives, to local craftsmen, may also help them understand the importance of a nation's historic and cultural heritage. This paper tries to emphasize the importance of cultural heritage knowledge, the importance of fight against heritage crime, and the importance of education. Heritage should be part of school curriculum or extracurricular activities in order to teach students how to recognize valuable cultural objects that represent their national identity. For ethnic minorities it is very important to preserve their identity through promoting their cultural creativity and innovation. By learning and understanding different cultures can help avoid misjudging others and improve your knowledge. All cultures are equally worthy of respect. That is why we should fight to accept and protect not just our cultural heritage, but the cultural heritage of others, too.
