Medicine as an inspiration for the literature. Selected examples

Summary/Abstract: The literature plays underestimated role in creating the definition of medicine as it serves us with variety of images that make metaphorical references to our existence. The fact that the medicine remains the section of an art in the expanse of which the envoy of poetry and prose finds its expression emphasizes that those two, apparently unrelated worlds, interpermeate and breathe sense into each other’s existence. Literature that cannot refer to the medical reality is unable to achieve the reader’s soul and affect his inner hierarchy of values, whereas the medicine deprived of multidimensionality that is hidden underneath the literary words deteriorates into the field devoid of spirituality.
