Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on selected works of twenty-first-century Polish literature, treatingthem as peculiar accounts (“reports”) about people’s consciousness during rapidcivilizational and social changes. These changes include growing wealth inequality ordecreasing access to knowledge and power, which affect lifestyle choices, horizons ofexpectations, and worldviews, thus fostering social exclusion and a growing indifferenceto the fate of others and the environment. This anthropologizing approach to literaryworks enables us to notice the scale and direction of the above processes, as well astheir social consequences.
