Summary/Abstract: The constitutions of the European Union member states determine goals and values that should be achieved by the activities of authorities and other political subjects. Although it is not a state, but a supranational international organization, the highest legal acts of the European Union expressly set out the objectives of the Union and the values on which it is founded. Of course, there is a certain connection between the goals and values of the Union or its member states. All EU member states have ratified the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the European Social Charter, as well as the fundamental conventions (pacts) for the protection of human rights adopted in the United Nations system. However, due to the legal nature of the European Union, there are certain specificities in the regulation and realization of the values and goals of the European Union. What are they?
