SELECTED ASPECTS OF ASSESSMENT OF THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT AS AN ELEMENT OF SAFETY IN SELECTED COMMUNITIES

Summary/Abstract: The security of local communities is an important element creating the internal dimension of state security. Man can realize and develop his personality in a proper relationship with the surrounding environment, with which he must identify to some extent in order to show initiative in harmonious social development. The local community, although it is an element of the state system, in a special way links the activities of state and private entities and non-governmental organizations with a strong bottom-up initiative in the fi eld of strengthening the sense of security in a selected area. The study indicates exemplary aspects of the assessment of the local environment, focusing on the feeling of pride in living in the area of a given poviat, the advantages and disadvantages of social functioning in the surveyed poviats, and a potential recommendation to live in the studied social environment, addressed to people from outside the indicated territorial division.
