Summary/Abstract: The article presents the issue of the threat to NATO’s eastern flank, which arose after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. The current geostrategic situation in Europe is presented, taking into account historical and contemporary conditions, interests of NATO and Russia. Next, the directions of changes in Russia’s policy were discussed. The role of President Putin, his superpower vision of Russia and the implementation of tasks on this path were emphasized. The material presents a brief outline of activities in the arena of armed struggle in Ukraine. The final assessment of the current international situation was carried out, taking into account the potential threat to NATO’s eastern flank and the Alliance’s position on the defence of its territory.
